Growing up from the base of the vase this design is similar in structure to some of William Moorcroft’s iris designs originating almost a century ago. The colour palette available to a contemporary Moorcroft designer allows the natural colours of the iris to be sharpened and, as would be pleasing to William Moorcroft himself, allows this tempting numbered edition to be truly made in the spirit of Arts and Crafts pottery, with the design seemingly growing naturally from the earth, the colours themselves an inherent part of the design. Superb artistry emanates from this design, which is also available as a plaque.
